Alllll....right kiddos. After many sleepless nights I finally came up with a gameplan that can be just as easily modified. There was talks about buying a van, which is still pretty feasible but we can rent one for pretty cheap as well, kitchenette and everything:
van rental
This option makes it the more the merrier because we can all split the cost which would average out to about $1000 a person with 3 people. Plus the bonus of no hotels AND cooking inside. I'm pretty stoked on this way.
The other option is an Amer-rail pass:
amer-rail
which can get us anywhere for 30 consecutive days, including Canada. I'm leaning towards renting the van personally. Here is a loose route of places I wanted to see going around but anyone is welcome to download the picture, photoshop or MS paint it to include anywhere in particular they wanted to go.
So far here is My list:
1. Eugene, OR: Scott Ordway lives there and another childhood friend of mine lives there. Bonus.
2. Portland, OR: pretty town. Don't know anyone though.
3. Seattle, WA: Lilia, Nathan and all of Dave's Navy buddies live up there.
4. Vancouver, BC: Never been. Hear it's great.
5. Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming: pic-a-nic baskets a plus.
6. St. Paul, MN: I met someone in Italy who lives there.
7. Chicago, IL: Wayne Campbell and Ferris Bueller couldn't be wrong about this one.
8. Buffalo, NY: Niagara Falls. Short stop, but would like to see it.
9. Montreal, QB: Hey, why not?
10. Boston, MA: Know a couple people, I love that town and Mikey is there. For sheez.
11. Long Island, NY: My step family all live there and could probably hook us up with showers etc.
12. New York, NY: Dr. Nick Meo and my friend Ian Cheng live there.
13. Kentucky: Met someone from Italy who I said would visit.
14. Nashville, TN: Clare's friend Corey lives there and so does Elvis.
15. Miami, FL: Kind of a barge, but it will be during the Summer so why not?
16. Omaha, NB: Not crucial, but wouldn't mind seeing the midwest.
17. Denver or Aspen, CO: Where the beer flows like wine.
17 1/2. I forgot I kind of wanted to see Telluride, CO also.
18. Santa Fe, NM: Not urgent, but just wanted to throw it out there.
19. Grand Canyon, AZ: Donkey rides? Camping at the bottom?
20. Vegas baby, Vegas: fuck yeah!
alright if anyone wants to add any stops as well, their more than welcome. I figure we should just get them all down on paper first and we can whittle them into a trip that is a little more streamlined and won't have us on a craazzy schedule because I'm not really into that. Post away!
